We Should Welcome the McSamers

Come to side of the Truth my friends.

McSamers. With word that the McSame campaign is actively encouraging their supporters, the McSamers, to post on Daily Kos, the DK regulars are sharpening their rhetorical knives. I say put your mighty weapons of snark away and embrace the McSamers. Hear me out.

Remember that the McSame campaign is heart and soul (assuming it has either) a continuation of failed neo-con policies and prejudices. They aren't for change as much as they are for, well, the opposite of change. Thinking and the open discussion of issues and realities are inherently counter to the McSame ideology. It remains to be seen if coming to the openness and reality of Daily Kos will be like matter to the McSamers anti-matter resulting in a cataclysmic annihilation. Let's look on the bright side and assume instead that the McSamers heads will not explode and rather only be scorched like a vampire seeing sunlight. This leaves the McSamers in a vulnerable position. Resist the urge to exploit their weakness - what are you a Republican? Love your enemies!

See - on the right-wing forms it is common practice to instantly ban anyone who varies at all from the party line - yes literally, the party line. Daily Kos does not censor ideologically. We should be proud of that. It will also be a life-changing epiphany for the McSamers who come here. We will match McSame talking points with reality points (My God, I am sounding like Stephen Colbert). We will open their minds and shine a big old searchlight of truth into it (Do you think Colbert will sue me?) We will help them shed the imprisoning cocoon of their own jingoistic bigoted ignorance and help them step into the Truth. (Seriously Colbert must have a lot of money to hire really effectively slimy lawyers, right?)

So when the McSamers come, clothed only in their talking points supplied by the campaign, don't ridicule them, smile, say hello, look them straight in the eye and say : Boo! Then pat them on the back and welcome them to Daily Kos.  And that's The Word.  (Damn! I blew it, I need a lawyer.)
